Hi Beachmama, Saw your post over at Postcards from the Mothership re Delaware - I did a quick google for Delaware and soon realized there were a ton of cities to choose from. Can you recommend one (we like the beach). Thanks!

Hi Anonymous! There are actually only a few good beaches on the shore of Delaware.

We go to Rehoboth Beach and have been going since my father was 10 (i.e. before I was born). It is a great family beach.

There is also Dewey Beach, just south of Rehoboth, but no boardwalk. And there is Lewis north of Rehoboth, again not as big as Rehoboth.

Just a half hour south you would hit Ocean City, Maryland. Much larger than Rehoboth. We often go for a day, dinner and rides then head back to Rehoboth.

The other cities to choose from in Delaware, although nice, wouldn't be my choice for a vacation... just the beaches.

Welcome to warmer weather. Nice.

My mom used to live in Alexandria. I went to visit her in January one year. We drove out to Rehoboth and stayed in a pink hotel on the beach. There was no one there! It was fabulous and even snowed. And talk about the outlets, no sales tax! :D

Ooh, Little Miss Mel!! You stayed at the Boardwalk Plaza?! Am now a little jealous, we always rent a cottage or stay inland at my Aunt's :). Have always wanted to stay there, it is gorgeous. And yes we do a lot of shopping :).
